NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING The Board of School Trustees of Washington Community Schools will convene a public hearing on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Central Administration Office, located at 301 East South Street, Washington, Indiana. The purpose of the public hearing is for the Board to meet to discuss and hear objections to and support for a proposed extension of the term of the Superintendent's contract to comply with IC 20-26-5-4.3. A summary of the proposed Superintendent contract is as follows: 1. The School Corporation agrees to employ the Superintendent for the term of this Addendum from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2019. Effective July 1, 2014 the School Corporation agrees to pay the Superintendent annual compensation of $116,000, payable in equal installments or the Corporations normal payroll schedule. Effective July 1, 2015 compensation increases will be based upon the average percentage provided to certified teachers and that of the administration. In addition, the Superintendent shall receive all fringe benefits outlined in this Addendum, along with any fringe benefits provided to teachers in the master contract. 2. A Work year of 240 days with annual entitlement to sick days, personal business days, and bereavement leave per the teacher master contract. 3. The Board shall review the Superintendent's contract annually by December 1 prior to the upcoming contract year, take action determining whether or not to extend the contract for another contract year by December 31st of the same calendar year. If the Board does not take these actions, the Addendum shall result in a continuous three year contract, unless written notice is provided as set forth above. In addition, the Board, will on an annual basis, review the Superintendent's performance in accordance with policy. 4. The School Corporation agrees to pay the mandatory contribution to the Indiana State Teachers' Retirement Fund. 5. Family plan medical insurance coverage of the same type and with the same provider as that approved for teachers. 6. Dental coverage paid for by the Board as provided for teachers or as otherwise limited and/or prescribed by state law. 7. Vision coverage paid for by the Board as provided for teachers or as otherwise limited and/or prescribed by state law. 8. Disability Insurance (LTD) coverage as provided for teachers. 9. The School Corporation provides a term life insurance policy for the Superintendent with a face value of $150,000. 10. The Board shall pay $7000 per contract year into a 401 K account, for the benefit of the Superintendent, in accordance with all applicable law and account rules. 11. The Board encourages the Superintendent to participate in professional development. The Board will reimburse the Superintendent for any such expenses including dues and memberships to professional organizations approved by the Board. 12. The Board shall reimburse the Superintendent for expenses incurred by the Superintendent for his attendance at local and state meetings in the course of the role as superintendent. 13. The Board shall grant approval for the Superintendent to attend one national professional conference per contract year if permitted by the budget, thereby paying the Superintendent's expenses. Any expenses incurred on the account of accompanying spouse of other persons shall be the responsibility of the Superintendent. 14. The Board agrees to furnish a vehicle for use by the Superintendent in conducting business for the School District. In the event that a vehicle is not available, the Board shall reimburse the Superintendent for business miles at the current IRS rate. 15. VEBA: The Board shall pay an amount equal to 2.4% of the annual base salary per contract year, in accordance with all applicable law and account rules. 16. The Superintendent is responsible for and shall perform those functions as specified in the job for the superintendent hereby employed, as such may be amended from time to time by the Board. The Superintendent shall be responsible to, and shall be subject to, the direct supervision and evaluation of the Board. In addition, the Superintendent shall, during the term of this Contract, hold and maintain such state licenses and certification as may be applicable or required, and shall devote his full working time to the performance of his duties as Superintendent 17. In the event that the Superintendent fails to comply with the duties of his office or otherwise prematurely terminates this contract then all terms set forth herein are terminated and revoked as of the dates of this termination hspaxlp April 9, 2016
