KOKOMO COMMON COUNCIL OF HOWARD COUNTY, INDIANA ORDINANCE NO. 6851 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KOKOMO, INDIANA, AMENDING ORDINANCE 5559 (AS AMENDED) OF THE KOKOMO CODE OF ORDINANCES REGARDING PERMIT FEES WHEREAS, it is the purpose of the Department of Engineering, Traffic and Inspection Services to administer a wide variety of programs and administrative services for the City of Kokomo; and WHEREAS, the administration of a wide variety of these programs and services results in the necessity of establishing reasonable fees and charges because these services require professional expertise in proportion to the amount of service consumed; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate to establish such fees and charges in a manner that insures those individuals, groups and organizations which benefit from the service are responsible for compensating for the service; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Kokomo to assess equitable fees and charges for the provision of these programs and services, which fees have not been amended by the City of Kokomo since 1986; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Common Council of the City of Kokomo, Howard County, Indiana, that pursuant to this ordinance, Chapter 150 of the Kokomo Code of Ordinances shall be amended to read as follows: (A) Applicability. (1) The provisions in this section apply to all new construction and all alterations, repairs, and remodeling. Building and Electrical permits are waived for non-profit organizations. (2) No person, company or corporation shall perform or cause to be performed any work on or within Kokomo city limits without obtaining in advance a permit from the Department of Engineering, Traffic and Inspection Services. (3) Anyone who fails to obtain a permit prior to construction shall be subject to penalties in accordance with Section 150.99. (4) This section shall not be interpreted so as to relieve any individual, group, or organization of any obligation to obtain permits, request inspections, or carry out any work within the guidelines and standards of any Ordinance of the city or the State of Indiana. (B) Schedule of fees and charges. The Department of Engineering, Traffic and Inspection Services is authorized to implement the following schedule of fees and charges for services provided.
