Notice is hereby given that the Elkhart County Drainage Board has scheduled a Public Hearing for 7:00 P.M. On Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at 70725 CR 1, Nappanee, IN 46550 for consideration of the BERLINCOURT LATERAL A REPLACEMENT PROJECT #16-026. It is the landowner's responsibility to advise any renters of their property or lands being sold under land contract of the notice. The project is located in Sections 22 and 27 of Locke Twp. And begins at the tile outlet into Berlincourt Ditch on the West side of CR 1 and extends Northwest approximately 5,200 feet to the pond South of CR 50. The project consists of replacing the existing 15 and 12 clay tile with a 15 and 12 polyethylene corrugated tile with sock. This work is to be completed January 20, 2017. The project will commence after the crop is harvested so NO CROP DAMAGES are proposed to be paid. The estimated cost of the project is less than $ 180,000,00. It is the Contractor's responsibility to work around or remove and reset all maintained fences in the project area. If the maintained fence is destroyed or cannot be reset, the contractor shall install the same type of fence at his expense. Non maintained fences will not be replaced. Property owners should be aware that Cumulative Drainage funds will be used to finance the County's portion of the project and that no ditch maintenance assessments against property owners are contemplated. Interested property owners and concerned citizens will be given an opportunity to present their views on the project and claim damages as they might accrue from said project, at the scheduled hearing. Plans and specifications on the project may be reviewed at the Office of the Elkhart County Surveyor.
