On or about June 06, 2016, the City of Jeffersonville, in partnership with the Town of Clarksville and the Clark County Sheriff's office applied to the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance, for a grant from the Fiscal Year 2016 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. This program allows states and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime and improve the criminal justice system. These grants are allocated to eligible jurisdictions based upon a formula administered by the Bureau of Justice Statistics. The jurisdiction including Clark County, the City of Jeffersonville and the Town of Clarksville appears on the FY 2016 Units of Local Government Eligibility List, established by the Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Statistics. This list can be viewed at: https://www.bja.gov/Programs/jag/16jagallocations.html. The allocation for this jurisdiction is certified as disparate. Multiple disparate allocations occur when multiple cities or municipalities are collectively eligible to receive four times (400 percent) more than the county. (U.S. Department of Justice, JAG Program, FY 2016 Local Solicitation). Disparate jurisdictions must identify a fiscal agent that will submit a joint application for the total eligible allocation. The parties included in this jurisdiction have named the City of Jeffersonville the agency which will submit the application according to the Memorandum of Understanding which was entered into by each of the parties. A copy will be available for viewing at Jeffersonville City Hall, 500 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, Indiana, after June 29, 2016. The City of Jeffersonville will apply for the total eligible allocation of $46,395.00. Individual allocations will be made to each agency for their individual purposes as follows: Clark County Sheriff's Department, $3,711.60 for equipment; the Town of Clarksville, $17,166.15 for equipment; and the City of Jeffersonville, $20,877.75 for tasers. Information related to this application is available for public review at Jeffersonville City Hall, Department of Redevelopment, 500 Quartermaster Court, Jeffersonville, Indiana, between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. Interested citizens are invited to provide comments regarding these issues by written statement.
